Editorial Cartooning, DSPC, RSPC & NSPC Participation
Yusay’s journey as a writer began in elementary school, where they won a school‑wide writing competition, placing first in editorial cartooning and third in feature writing. They later competed in the Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC), a journalism competition with representatives from both private and public schools in Zamboanga City, and earned third place in Copyreading and Headline Writing as well as tenth place in feature writing.
They continued their participation in journalism competitions in high school, where they ultimately won first place in News Writing for the entire Region IX at the Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC). Their win at the regional level qualified them to compete in the National Schools Press Conference (NSPC), the highest journalism competition for student journalists in the Philippines, where the best writers from different regions across the country vie for top honors. Their experiences in DSPC, RSPC, and NSPC allowed them to travel the country and further develop their writing skills.
